Information We Collect
Almost everything Resumar holds about you is something you typed into it, because a résumé builder is a place you write things down.
Information you provide
Account information. Resumar accounts are created by signing in with Google or by requesting a passwordless email sign-in link. With Google, we receive the basic profile details Google returns — your name, your email address, and your profile picture. With email, we use the address you enter to send the link and to identify your account. Resumar does not create, ask for or store a password.
Résumé and cover-letter content. Anything you enter while building a document, which typically includes:
- Contact and personal details — name, professional title, email, phone number, date of birth, address, city, state, country and postal code
- Links you choose to add, such as LinkedIn, GitHub, a portfolio, a personal site or other profiles
- A photograph, if you add one to a document
- Work experience, education, skills and projects
- Certifications, awards, languages, publications, patents, volunteer work, research and references
- Summaries, cover-letter text and any other wording you write
Files you upload. If you import an existing résumé, the file you choose is uploaded so that its contents can be read and turned into an editable document.
Sharing and collaboration information. When you create a share link or work on a document with someone else, we record the link, the level of access it grants, whether it has been revoked, and who has accepted it.
Payment information. Payments are handled by our payment provider. Resumar does not receive or store your card, UPI or bank details — we receive the status of a payment (for example, whether it succeeded, was applied to your Pro access, or was refunded), along with the order and payment identifiers needed to record it against your account.
Information collected automatically
This is a short list on purpose. Resumar has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party trackers, and does not build a profile of you from your behaviour.
- Technical connection data. As with any website, requests to our servers include technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is processed by our hosting provider as part of delivering and securing the service.
- What your browser stores locally. Preferences and unsaved drafts are kept in your own browser rather than collected by us. See Cookies and Similar Technologies below.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate and maintain Resumar
- Create, edit, format and store your résumés
- Create, edit and store your cover letters
- Save your work, keep it available across sessions and devices, and let you export it
- Read an existing résumé you import, so its contents can become an editable document
- Create and manage your account, and recognise you when you sign in
- Make sharing and collaboration work — showing a shared document to the people you shared it with, and to nobody else
- Process payments and record what your account has access to
- Respond to questions and requests you send us
- Diagnose faults, fix problems and improve the reliability and performance of the product
- Maintain the security of the service and prevent abuse, fraud and unauthorised access
- Comply with legal obligations that apply to us
We do not use your résumé content to advertise to you, and we do not sell it or hand it to anyone for their own purposes.
Your Resume and Content
Your content belongs to you.
The resume, cover-letter, career information, and other content you create or provide remain yours. Resumar processes this information as necessary to provide the services you request and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.
Documents you create are private to your account by default. They become visible to somebody else only when you decide to share them — by creating a share link, or by giving another person access to a specific document.
Sharing one document shares that document. It does not give anyone access to your other documents, your account, or anything else you have written.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists and for as long as it is needed to provide the service to you.
Content you delete. When you delete a résumé, a cover letter or a section of a document, it is removed from your workspace. Revoking a share link ends access through that link.
Deleting your account. When your account is closed, the content associated with it is deleted or anonymised, other than information we are required to keep.
Backups. Deleted information may persist for a period in routine backups and system logs before those are cycled out.
Records we must keep. Some information — payment and transaction records, for example — is retained for longer where accounting, tax, legal or fraud-prevention obligations require it.
Our specific retention periods are: [Insert actual retention policy]
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. In practice, that includes:
- Encryption of data in transit between your browser and our services
- Access rules enforced by the database itself, so a document is readable only by its owner and by the people it has been shared with
- Share links that use long random tokens, and that stop working as soon as they are revoked
- Uploaded résumé files kept in private storage that is not publicly listable or readable
- Sign-in handled by Google OAuth or a passwordless email magic link, so no password for Resumar exists to be stolen
Images in shared documents
A photograph you add to a document has to be visible to anyone you share that document with, including people who are not signed in. Such images are therefore stored under a randomly generated, unguessable address. They are not listed, indexed or linked from anywhere else, but anyone who obtains the address could view the image — so please treat a photo you add as something that can be seen by whoever you share the document with.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will act in accordance with applicable law.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Much of this you can do yourself, at any time, inside the product:
- Access and correction. Your information is visible and editable in your documents and your profile.
- Deletion. You can delete individual documents, or close your account.
- Portability. You can export any document as a PDF, which is generated in your own browser.
- Withdrawing sharing. You can revoke a share link or a collaborator's access at any time.
- Withdrawing sign-in access. You can disconnect Resumar from your Google account through your Google account settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also have statutory rights over your personal information — such as rights of access, correction, deletion, portability, objection or restriction, and the right to withdraw consent. The rights that apply to you, and how we handle those requests, are set out here: [Insert applicable jurisdictions and rights]
Requests can be sent to info@resumar.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children's Privacy
Resumar is a professional tool for creating résumés and cover letters, and it is not directed at children. Resumar does not set a minimum age of its own; use of the service is subject to the eligibility requirement in our Terms of Service.
If you have a concern about a child's information on Resumar, write to info@resumar.com.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes or as legal requirements change. When we do, we revise the Last updated date shown at the top and bottom of this page.
If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention before it takes effect. Continuing to use Resumar after an update means the revised policy applies to you.
